Bomb squads were called to a Scottish beach this morning after a suspected ordnance device was found.
EOD crews raced to the Esplanade outside the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen after the alarm was raised at around 8.15am.
Officers confirmed that they received reports that a suspected unexploded ordnance had been discovered on the seafront.
Emergency services swooped on the scene, and the surrounding area was locked down.
The Esplanade and surrounding roads were sealed off as crews dealt with the incident.
A cordon was put up around the seafront while EOD teams attended and investigated the incident.
Photos from the scene show several policecars at the beach, as well as coastguard teams.
Several officers were also seen guarding the area on foot and standing at the cordon.
Police later confirmed that the incident was a false alarm and the item found was not ordnance.
They reopened several roads, including the junction on Ellon Road, a short time later.
