Trans activist Heather Herbert has now been charged over comments made following the death of Anne Widdecombe.

Many people will now be watching closely to see how this case is handled, particularly when compared with the 31-month sentence handed to Lucy Connolly over a social media post.

The obvious question many on the right will be asking is whether the justice system applies the same standards consistently, regardless of a person’s political views or beliefs.

Will this case be treated in the same way, or will it fuel further concerns about what some see as two-tier justice?
